António Palolo

Painter and Portuguese artistic operator (1946-2000), he has always been a self-taught person. Thus, his works emerged precociously, revealing his unusual maturity. He starts holding exhibitions in 1964. His initial work is located in an ambiguous territory, between figuration and abstraction, revealing himself, at the end of the 60’s, as a master of the pop aesthetics.

Afterwards he evolved to the geometrical simplification of the shapes. In the 80’s, he started working the human figure and the relationships between Man and the Universe. In 1995-1996 the Modern Art Centre José de Azeredo Perdigão, from Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, presents, in a great exhibition, artworks representative of all António Palolo’s artistic path.
